In Australia there is a bushfire that have killed over 210 people and injured 500 more. The fires have destroyed at least, 2,029 homes, 3,500 structures in total and damaged thousands more. I don’t know how long it has been going on for, but the total damage, is quite over a few million dollars. All kinds of volunteers and organizations are helping out the people who lost their homes by donating money, and giving out water, food, etc. There was a man who started the fire, and the arsonist may be charged with murder, because of the people the fire he started has killed. I really think that the man who started the fire is stupid. Why would he do something like that? He just took the life of over 200 people! Do you think he should be charged of murder, or be let out a free man?

We recently read chapters 9 -12 in The Wave. In the chapters, way more kids have gotten involved and recruited. Some of the kids have gotten beaten up and threatened if they don’t join. Laurie ad David recently broke up because of The Wave. There are only so many people that realize that The Wave isn’t such a great thing is seems to be. Even Ben Ross realizes it too, the principal told him that he thinks The Wave may start to get out of hand. Also Laurie got a letter to the Gravepine and it was saying how a senior threatened the person because he didn’t want to join The Wave.

Now even I think it’s starting to get WAY out of hand, people starting to get threatened and beat up because of the Wave? That’s just stupid, people should be able to decide what and what they don’t want to do. And I think it’s really stupid thay David broke up with Laurie because she thinks that the Wave is getting out of hand, like why would he do that? If that happened if JHK, I have no idea what would happen, if it would go farther then the Wave? That’d be insane.

So for my project I’ve gathered quite a bit and i think i might actually do good! =O

In Canberra it’s really cheap to travel by bus, 3$ to travel anywhere within a 90 minute period, $6.60 for anywhere the whole day!And in the music scene..  Steve Kilbey, known as the singer and songwriter behind The Church. The Church is one of Australia’s greatest bands, still making music! Also around 63% of Canberra residents are Christian, with the majority being Catholic and Anglican. About 1.2% of Canberra’s population was of native origin and 21.6% were born overseas, coming from United Kingdom, New Zealand, Germany, Italy and Vietnam and other places.

On Dvice, i found a really interesting thing. It’s where a seventy three year old  man named Ron can see a little bit more thanks to a bionic eye called the Argus II. He’s been blind for about 30 years, and because of the Argus he can see a bit again.

The Argus is  camera and video processor  on a pair of sunglasses sending data to an eye-mounted transceiver which allows him to see things like white lines on the road. The receiver passes on the data through  a tiny cable to an array of electrodes which sit on the retina – the layer of specialized cells that normally respond to light found at the back of the eye. Researchers say it’s not perfect, but it’s better then nothing right?

I’ve read the chapters 5 – 8  in novel and here’s a short summary on basically everything that has happened.

The history teacher Ben, has created the wave and introduced it to his class. He came up with a motto for the group,”Strength through Discipline, Strength through Community, Strength through Action‘’, along with a salute.  Laurie went home for supper, and they were talking about The Wave, her mother didn’t really like this because she says everyone is their own person and individuals and that’s how it should be.  Her dad thought otherwise though. He liked the idea of  kids being disciplined and behaving properly at school. Also, their all getting along with each other because they think that the group make them all equals. Robert, the class loser now fits in the the rest, even the jocks who used to pick on him. During one of the classes, Ben Ross gave them all cards, and every card with a red X was like a supervisor, they were to make sure people were following the rules and recruit new members.

My thoughts on this..  what Lauries mom said, is right, people should be individuals, and to be themselves, not all be the same, that’s stupid.  Sure it has some good things about it, like Robert not being picked on for example, but it also has bad things, like them losing their indiviualism. I think what they are, is sort of like how the Nazi’s were.. except you know, without the guns and tanks and stuff. And sure everyone is all perfect and the same, but, is it worth it?

Well, it’s 1:30 a.m and I’m bored so why not. I don’t really have to much to talk about right now except that i’m DEAD tired…   but anyways.,. hmm..

Well i guess i’ll talk about music because that’s what i’m mostly into. Top ten favorite bands

1. Avenged Sevenfold    2. Social Distortion  3. SlipKnoT   4. Atreyu 5. Megadeth   6. Paramore  7. System Of A Down  8. Rise Against 9. Metallica  and 10. Disturbed

On my guitar I can play a fair amount of Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth, System of a down, and Rise Against. Except the solo’s on a few. but thats really all I have to say, i’m going to bed now, bye!

In class, Mr Fisher gave us a book to read, called The Wave, it’s based on a true story where a history teacher shows a film on Hitler, the Nazi’s and the concentration camps. It leads to an experiment that goes to far.

The main characters are the history teacher Ben Ross Amy, Ben Ross ( The History teacher ), David (Laurie’s Boyfriend and footbal player) , Brad (Amy’s Boyfriend and Quaterback of the footbal team)

The start of the book starts off with Ben Ross showing his class a movie about how the Nazi’s tried to kill off the Jews in the concentration camps.  At the end of the movie a lot of people were shocked and upset because Hitler killed so many people because they weren’t ‘good enough’ compared to the Germans, the ’superior’ race . At the end of the class, they asked Ben Ross a question, and he couldn’t quite give them a straight answer. That night he took out a lot of books and studied the Nazi’s.

It would be devastating to be Jewish and have that happen to you. Hitler killed Jews because he thought they were the reason for all the bad things yet Hitler was part Jewish? Pretty stupid I think, Hitler was insane, and quite literally a mad man. I don’t like war, but i’m glad that the Russians, British, Canadian, U.S etc. forces stopped them, because if they didn’t, there would be almost no more Jewish people alive. I also think it’s really stupid that the Germans/Nazi’s that DID know about the concentration camps, didn’t do anything about it, like what is wrong with them? Thats inhuman to do something like that.

And thats about it, thats what happened in chapter 1 – 4.

The past week we have been working on a project called Smart Set. Mr Fisher gave us an assignment where we are working for a company and have to find a city or town to build a building in. I chose Canberra, Australia. I would have prefered Syndey, but Alysa took it first -_-”.

Canberra is Australias capital and has around 360 000 people. It’s quite expensive to fly there, around 9k to 10k for one person.  It’s also very warm in Canberra compared to where we live, the lowest average it gets in the winter is a -0. In Canberra there are a lot of Bars, Pubs, Restaurants and leisure activities to do.

For christmas, i got a few things. My favorites were my electric guitar and amp, my PS3, rockband2, and my new hat from my girlfriend.

I’ve had rockband 2 for about 9 days now and I am already close to beating the game, but i’ve been having troubles beating a few songs. I play on expert drums, and i’ve failed Panic Att1 ack by Dream Theater (their amazing, and i can finally beat it) and Visions, and Shoulder to the Plow many times. There good songs, (except i don’t like Visions) and their just insane. A reaaally tiring song is Painkiller by Judas Priest, the drummer for the band uses Double Bass, and it’s really fast bass notes throughout the whole song pretty much, a pretty good workout lol.

I’ve played guitar on a few songs, I play expert too, and i’ve played Panic attack on the guitar… it’s SICK. John Petrucci is a amazing giutarist.

That’s really all i have to say.. haven’t written a post in a while so i thought i’d write one.

I chose this blog as one of the three because it tells you some things about Global Warming, and it also gives you information on how the goverment is handling it.  It’s also updated about 3 -4 times a week. It’s also a pretty old blog, from Jan. 03, but it still posts often.

http://povertynewsblog.blogspot.com/

I also like this blog, because it talks about poverty, and the economy around the world. It is also updated about 2-4 times a day, every 3 days or so.
